Is Snapdragon 865 is the best processor?

In recent years, the competition in the mobile phone industry has become increasingly fierce, and it is precisely in order to enhance their own competitiveness that major manufacturers have either developed their own 5nm process processors or are ready to buy 5nm processes from other chip manufacturers processor. But I don't know if it is because the technology is not enough, or because of the defects of the current 5nm process itself. Several processors using this process that has come out now have some problems more or less. Although the performance of the previous Huawei Kirin 9000 is slightly better than the 7-nanometer Snapdragon 865, the power consumption is even higher than that of the 865. And yesterday, Xiaomi’s world premiere of Snapdragon 888 also exposed a lot of problems.

First of all, in terms of performance, the upgraded 5nm chip did not bring us much surprise. Originally, the upgraded process technology performance and power consumption should be better than the 7nm process Snapdragon 865, but the few released this year The 5-nanometer process chip is said to be "overturned" in these two aspects. I feel that there is no big problem. And the most cost-effective is the 5nm chip, which should be Huawei's Kirin 9000 from the current point of view (I declare here that the data used below are all from Xiaomi's evaluation) In the GeekBench running test, we can see that the two 5nm process processors currently on the market, the Kirin 9000 and the Snapdragon 888, outperform the Snapdragon 865 in single-core or multi-core performance, but From the point of view of scores, it is really said that it is not crushed, which means an improvement of about 10%. Maybe when an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 865 is released, the performance will be equal to the two 5nm processors.

But GeekBench only measures the core performance. This time the 5nm chip rollover is mainly the GPU. We can see from the GPU performance score below that the two models using 5nm chips have GPU performance. It is still unable to surpass the Xiaomi Mi 10 Extreme Commemorative Edition using the Snapdragon 865, and even in some tests the Snapdragon 865 can surpass two 5nm chips. But the one that pulls the hips most is the Snapdragon 888. Many tests have been crushed by the Kirin 9000, which really should not be. This is especially true in terms of power consumption. Everyone should know that the power consumption of Kirin 9000 is lower, and this time the Snapdragon 888 is even more so. In Xiaomi’s evaluation test, the Snapdragon 888 was used for 5 hours. Only 39% of the phone’s battery power remains.
